As of yesterday, Twitter changed their star to a heart. The star was to favorite a tweet, and the heart is to like a tweet. Apparently the star was confusing for newcomers. How, exactly, is a star confusing? If anything, the heart is confusing. A heart typically symbolizes love, but in this case, they want it to count as a like. So, instead of giving the tweet a gold star, we basically have to throw a love on the tweet.
That’s too much commitment for me. I can’t speak for anyone else, but I know I favorite tweets for any number of reasons ranging from enjoying or agreeing with the tweet, to just wanting to look back at it later. Kind of like bookmarking something on your browser. But this heart thing? I don’t really want to be clicking all these hearts and giving people the wrong idea. The star was friendly, the heart is full of innuendos. Simple as that.
p.s. I waited to see if I cared any less today, but it’s still bothering me, so yeah.
