NETFLIX ORIGINAL | SANTA CLARITA DIET

Yeah, the emotions in this picture pretty much sum up my feelings on Santa Clarita Diet. This Netflix Original starring Drew Barrymore, being awkward as ever, provides laughs along with some fairly cringey moments. This was definitely one of those so-bad-it’s-actually-kinda-good shows. One of my friends told me to watch it and I have some no-spoiler thoughts!

SANTA CLARITA DIET

If you find Drew Barrymore’s offbeat style of humor endearing, this may be worth a watch. There’s currently one season on Netflix (who knows if there will ever be another) and each episode is about a half hour long. I wasn’t wowed by the acting and there were definitely some meh moments, but it was upbeat and had it’s funny moments as well.

Santa Clarita Diet follows a family living in a quiet suburban neighborhood. Just a man, his wife, and their daughter. Pretty average family until something pretty damn strange happens to Drew Barrymore, the wife and mother. There’s blood, there’s laughs, there’s even a ‘will they or won’t they’ if you’re into that sorta trope.

Any Arrested Development fans? Portia de Rossi (Lindsay Bluth Fünke) makes an epic guest appearance. It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia fans? Mary Elizabeth Ellis (the waitress) is their free-spirited neighbor. So, definitely some familiar faces in this Netflix Original!

If you like a so-bad-it’s-actually-kinda-good show every now and then, give this a watch. Everyone else, maybe try something else.
