Happy St. Patrick’s Day weekend! Cheers to a few brews and some boiled dinner. I’ve been wanting to try Nyx soft matte lip cream for awhile now, I’ve heard a lot about it. I finally grabbed a few and I have mixed feelings. I got four colors I’ve been trying out and I have some thoughts, a review!
NYX SOFT MATTE LIP CREAM

THE GOOD:
While the lighter colors may need a few coats (not a huge deal to me) the darker shades are fairly pigmented with only one coat. They have a light vanilla-sugar scent, which smells nice without being overpowering. Since these are soft matte lip creams, they go on really smoothly and aren’t drying at all on the lips. The darker colors wear well throughout the day, about 3-4 hours before I want to re-apply.
THE NOT-SO-GOOD:
The lighter shades applied a bit streaky, but easily fixable with another coat. While this soft matte lip cream isn’t drying, I found the lighter colors (Athens, Buenos Aires) can settle into the lines on your lips a bit, which doesn’t look so nice. Also, I found that with the lighter colors, I have to blot and re-apply every couple of hours, which can be a bit annoying.
Overall I like ’em, but I’ll probably get more use out of Morocco than the others. I would get some darker shades though! Any suggestions?

I haven’t tried any of these. The shades look lovely but I’m a bit fussy with lip products in that I want full colour and they need to not settle into my dry lips! Great review…good to see the negatives too 😋 X

Amazing post! I only own dark shades so I can’t speak for the lighter ones. But I am really happy with mine 🙂

Great review! I agree that they can sort of gather up on the lips and it’s a bit gross but I usually just try and make it into a stain first or apply a lip liner to try and make them work. The shades look so pretty on you xx
