PICTURE THIS: you’re going to your millionth holiday party of the season & suddenly you’re completely out of outfit ideas. You’ve gone through your wardrobe & everything sucks. We’ve all been there & sometimes you need some inspiration to find just the right outfit. Whether your holiday style is tacky, tasteful, or casual, let’s talk about holiday outfits. I ALMOST included a red dress, but I mean, we ALL know that’s a solid option. SO here are some Christmas party outfit ideas for some what-to-wear inspo!
sweater, scarf & plaid trousers:
GOING for a more casual look, something a little bit less in-your-face festive? Pair an oversized sweater with your favorite trousers (right now, I can’t get enough of these plaid ones from TILLYS) & accessorize as you wish! I went with a long jacket, chunky scarf, glasses & black booties. You could also fa-la-la it up a bit with a pop of red, if you’re feeling festive.
sweater & skirt combo:
OR MAYBE something just a bit more fancy? I paired this AMAZING striped pencil skirt from Bershka with a black crewneck that I’ve had for years. ALSO you could definitely add tights if your legs get cold! I like this skirt because while it reminds me a little of a circus tent, it also kinda reminds me of the jewel tone Christmas lights. It’s Christmassy without being too Christmassy, ya know? NEED more festive? I think this one would look REALLY cool with a red shoe!
festive ugly sweater:
FEELING EXTRA FESTIVE or going to an ugly Christmas sweater party? You could make your own ugly Christmas sweater, OR find one at the store. BETTER yet, you can take an older sweater & be savvy about sustainable fashion by cutting it to make a chic Christmas crop-top. I got this Christmas cat crewneck from Target a few years back & this year I decided, why not change it up a bit, change the hem a bit? Paired with green ASOS trousers, red Calvin Klein bralette & a Santa hat because TIS THE SEASON.
BIG THANKS TO Lily Mack Farm for letting me run around taking all these outfit shots after I got some Christmas shopping done. The owners are absolutely lovely, SO support local & stop by their Christmas tree farm if you’re in the area. Shopping small is a wonderful way to help your community & spread holiday cheer!
