BEST ’90s HORROR MOVIES

90s horror films

SOMETIMES a classic horror film is all you need to get into the spooky spirit. I LOVE scary movies, the scarier the better. OCTOBER can be cold & dark, which is perfect for scary movie nights. SOME great horror movies came out in the 1990’s, so here are some ‘90s HORROR MOVIES to watch before spooky season ends.

SCARY MOVIES FROM THE ’90s

IT – 1990

  • FAR superior to the new IT movies, this is one of my favorites & scared me A LOT when I was a kid. Pennywise is no joke & the image of him peering out of that sewer followed me for quite a few years.

TREMORS – 1990

  • I MEAN, Kevin Bacon is in it & giant worm-like monsters are coming up from the ground. PLUS it’s sci-fi if you’re into that sorta thing.

THE SILENCE OF THE LAMBS – 1991

  • A CLASSIC FBI vs. psychopath story with Jodie Foster as Clarice Starling & Anthony Hopkins as Dr. Hannibal Lecter. SO creepy, but so good & some truly EXCELLENT acting.

SCREAM – 1996

  • THIS ONE is an absolute must. An iconic & modern slasher movie, Wes Craven was a horror genius. It’s funny & clever while also being scary & you’ll see some familiar faces.

I KNOW WHAT YOU DID LAST SUMMER – 1997

  • MAYBE not the scariest, or best slasher out there, but still kinda a classic. THESE friends have a huge secret that needs to be kept, but someone is threatening to reveal it.

BRIDE OF CHUCKY – 1998

  • THE CHUCKY series wouldn’t be complete without his lovely bride. THE ONLY thing creepier than one evil doll is two evil dolls.

SLEEPY HOLLOW – 1999

  • TIM BURTON & Johnny Depp are the kings of Halloween. THIS one mixes horror, romance & fantasy together to tell the legend of Sleepy Hollow.

THE SIXTH SENSE – 1999

  • I WOULD WATCH paint dry if it was directed by M. Night Shyamalan. THIS ONE is an absolute gem of the ’90s & has an amazing twist. Shyamalan is phenomenal with twist endings.

THE BLAIR WITCH PROJECT – 1999

  • A PSYCHOLOGICAL thriller that brought attention to the found footage genre. A group of kids go into the woods looking for the Blair Witch & it gets wild. THIS ONE walked so Paranormal Activity could run.

  1. Loooove the Chucky series & it’s totally true what you said about Blair Witch setting the scene for Paranormal Activity. Personally, I hate the “found footage genre” altogether. 😛 All of the other films on yout list, that I’ve seen, were great! I’ll have to watch the other ones some time! 😊
