OKAY SO I took a trip to Key West, Florida a few months ago & I’m ready to share my travel tips! My must-see places from my one & only trip there, my suggestion of things to do if you ever find yourself traveling to Key West. Not meant to be an exhaustive list, just some of the cool stuff I saw, ate, & drank that I wanna share. Key West is Florida’s southernmost point, an island full of happy day-drinkers with a tropical vibe. Some of the BEST THINGS TO DO IN KEY WEST.
FIRST UP is food, lol obviously. I think it’s safe to say Blue Heaven was one of my favorite places. I had banana pancakes with spicy sausage on the side & a boozy coffee while my boyfriend got a bean & rice bowl with all sorts of veggies & a mai tai. Everything was REALLY good. In the top right is a baked egg cup & passion fruit iced tea from a little coffee shop called La Grignote. It was right around the corner from our Airbnb, so I walked over & got us breakfast one morning. Not pictured, Sinz Burritos makes a dank burrito with a lotta topping options & local beer on tap. Plus the walls are painted to portray the seven deadly sins, pretty cool. I wrote a post all about what I ate in key west if you wanna see more food stuff!
Moving onto the watering holes. Viva Saloon was a really cool bar that had indoor & outdoor seating. We went here a couple times for drinks & apps, great place & some neat decor. We stopped by Fat Tuesday on our way to the sunset celebration (also a must) & got some boozy frozen drinks. We even took one to-go in a huge travel cup & drank it while we walked & shopped our way down Duval Street to Mallory Square. Last, but not least, a place called The Rum Bar that was right across the street from where we stayed & made some great rum cocktails. I have a hard time saying no to a good mojito.
Maybe one of my favorite things we did was visit Fort Zachary Taylor. It’s an old fort that was used in the War Between The States, a state park & historic landmark. We got to walk around, look at the cannons & see the view of the beach from the rooftops. Plus we went into a prison cell, lol. I vlogged our fort zach visit if you wanna check it out!

& you can’t forget about all the chickens and roosters, they’re literally everywhere. Stray roosters, it was wild. 👀
THINGS I’LL DO IN KEY WEST NEXT VISIT:
- go on the Hemingway House tour & meet all the cute six-toed cats
- rent a bike or scooter
- you tell me, in da comments
P.S. Our friend Hannah told us to stay at an Airbnb & honestly THE best advice. We were right off the main road & right in the middle of everything, so much better than a hotel!
In da comments, tell me your favorite place that you’ve traveled to & let me know if you’ve been to Key West!
